Granny’s Finest German Chocolate Cake |


My son needed German Chocolate cake for his birthday and whereas I’ve by no means made one, I knew simply the individual to show me.   • 1 pkg German Candy Chocoloate (4 oz)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 egg whites

German Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 can pet milk (12 oz.)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 ½ – 2 cups chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 7 oz. Angel flake coconut (sweetened)
  • Combine German chocolate with ½ cup boiling water, put aside. Cream sugar & butter till clean. Add egg yolks to combination. Add soda and salt to sifted flour. Start including flour and buttermilk alternately to butter combination, beginning and ending with flour. Then add German chocolate combination. Beat egg whites and fold into cake batter. Bake at 350 for half-hour. Use 3, 9” cake pans greased and floured.
